Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Cira trained at the Dance Theatre of Harlem School in New York City before joining London’s Ballet Black in 2008. Celebrated for her artistry, strength, and elegance, she has performed leading roles in works by choreographers including Will Tuckett, Arthur Pita, and Mthuthuzeli November. 

Cira has appeared on international stages and in numerous media features championing representation in ballet, notably dancing at Glastonbury with Stormzy and collaborating with Freed of London to create the Ballet Brown and Ballet Bronze pointe shoes for dancers of colour. After retiring from Ballet Black in 2022, she became Director of Yorkshire Ballet Seminars, continuing her commitment to inspiring and shaping the next generation of dancers.

 

Beyond the stage,  is known for her creative passions — she enjoys sewing, hairstyling, and crafting, often sharing her love of hands-on artistry as a complement to her life in dance. Her dedication both to her craft and her community has made her a role model for aspiring dancers worldwide.
