Margaret Ward-Martin
Board Safeguarding Lead and
Head of Safeguarding
Subcommitee - Designate

Margaret is a retired teacher who has experienced, first hand, the importance of inclusion, vocational training, prospects and robust mental health programmes in schools for students and staff alike.
Margaret began her career in the tech industry working in project management and after roles in both the Japanese and US embassies in London, embarked on a long teaching career. After training as a therapist, she began her private practice in London. She brought much of her experience working with children to the charity sector and has worked with several mental health charities including those who specialise in supporting the performing arts.
Her personal experience has contributed to Margaret’s determination to break down, challenge or identify barriers to opportunity. Originally from Salford, Manchester, she has a deep appreciation of the opportunities made available to her through scholarships, bursaries and the encouragement of aspirational and inspirational teachers and role models. She has had a lifelong love of ballet and was one of the first attendees at the Northern Ballet School when it opened in 1977.
Margaret lives with her husband in Surrey. She has two grown up sons and a not so grown-up Border Collie.
